U.S. Marshals offering $6,000 reward for Shelby murder suspect

SHELBY, N.C. – U.S. Marshals have increased the reward in the hunt for a Shelby murder suspect. 43-year-old Jonathan Petty is accused of killing Timothy Ruff in March of 2024.

A $6,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to his arrest. Investigators say petty has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous.
