2 arrested after police seize nearly $8M in counterfeit goods in Gaston County

Police said they arrested two suspects after seizing nearly $8 million worth in counterfeit items.

Police received a tip in June about counterfeit merchandise being sold from a residence in Stanley, North Carolina. They executed a search warrant at the home and seized 96,108 suspected counterfeit items, police said.

The items were worth an estimated MSRP of $7.8 million.

Arrest warrants were obtained for Adela Ortiz-Portillo and Ever Roberto Martinez-Olivia. They each were charged with two counts of criminal use of counterfeit trademark and one count of felony conspiracy.
