Family says Salisbury teen caught a ride before being shot and left at gas station to die

SALISBURY, N.C. – We’re learning more about the teen victim in a Salisbury deadly shooting. Investigators say 17-year-old Jeron Ellis was killed Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to a gas station on East Innes Street around two in the afternoon, to find him and another man shot. On a GoFundMe page, family members say Ellis was walking, caught a ride, and was gunned down, before being taken to the gas station. He died at the scene.

The family says they are devastated and searching for answers.

The second victim, 30-year-old Dionte Tillman, was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. Police have not made any arrests.
