CMPD says it arrested teens and cited adults at weekend teen takeover in University Area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say they proactively responded to a teen takeover in University City on Saturday, making arrests and citing several adults.

Police say they received open-source information, which likely means online info, about the planned takeover at the University City Boardwalk in advance. They say 200 to 300 juveniles showed up, with police arresting twelve and citing 10 adults for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

They say there were no injuries or any property damage.
