Huntersville Police officer arrested, charged after being accused of showing up for work while under the influence

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – A Huntersville Police officer has been arrested and charged with driving while impaired. Investigators say Officer Michael Ciarleglio showed up to work Wednesday morning showing signs of impairment.

Huntersville Police Chief Brian Vaughan has issued a recommendation that Town management fire him immediately.

In a statement, Vaughan says in part that when the department’s standards are violated, “We will act decisively and appropriately.”
