Drunk drivers, stolen cars, illegal guns taken off streets during CMPD’s Operation Queen City Overwatch

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – New details on a massive crime and traffic sweep to make Charlotte roads safer. CMPD says during Operation Queen City Overwatch, officers conducted over 1,200 traffic stops and issued more than 2,200 citations.

The two-day blitz targeted impaired driving, reckless driving, and street racing. Along with the State Highway Patrol, and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, they recovered stolen cars, served 26 outstanding warrants, and took 18 illegal guns off the streets.

73 people were arrested, including nearly 40 impaired drivers.
