Police: Shooting victim was shot during attempted burglary, not a drive-by

GASTONIA, N.C. – A Gastonia man’s drive-by shooting story has been exposed as a lie by advanced police technology, according to Gastonia Police.

On July 12th, Cedric Ford and Sanja Stallings claimed an unknown driver shot Ford in the chest. But when detectives linked the couple to a burglary on Ware Avenue, crime analysts used gunshot detection sensors to pinpoint to what investigators say is the real incident.

Gastonia Police shared video of who they say is Ford, attempting to break-in to a home. Investigators says that’s when an elderly, disabled man shot Ford through a window to stop him getting in. Ford is now charged with attempted burglary and felony obstruction.
