Storms cause trees to fall across part of I-77, blocking traffic and causing wrecks

IREDELL CO., N.C. – Storm damage caused a traffic nightmare on I-77 in Mooresville Tuesday night. State traffic cameras captured severe delays in after powerful storms appear to have knocked down trees onto the highway. The blockage is near the Brawley School Road exit (Exit 35).

The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported major stop-and-go traffic stretching for miles. Crews on the scene worked to clear the lanes of debris.
