CMPD officer arrested, charged with misuse of law enforcement database systems

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer is off the job and facing criminal charges for allegedly misusing law enforcement database systems.

State investigators arrested Officer Seth Elliott on Wednesday, charging him with illegally accessing a government computer. Officials say 25-year-old Elliott improperly used confidential systems, including the Flock camera network, for non-law enforcement purposes last month.

He is now suspended without pay pending an internal investigation.
