Rock Hill Schools welcomes teachers and staff back for new school year at annual pep rally

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Summer is almost over for students in Rock Hill Schools! Before classes begin on Monday, the district held it’s annual pep rally to get teachers and staff excited for the new school year.

The event was held in the gym at Northwestern High School with this year’s theme, “Denim and Diamonds.” The district also announced the Teacher of the Year, Welvin Simpkins. Simpkins says, “This will be my 19th year and I would say Rock Hill Schools is a very special place. I mean, the families that we work with understand that we are going to pull everything out of them, but they also know that we want what’s best for their kid in the end.”

As Teacher of the Year, Simpkins gets to drive a new vehicle from Honda Cars of Rock Hill for one year.
