CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Area Transit System will resume normal operations on its Lynx Blue Line on Tuesday, August 4, following the early completion of drainage infrastructure repairs.
Crews successfully completed the maintenance work ahead of schedule along the rail alignment south of the Scaleybark Station. With the repairs finalized, Blue Line trains will no longer be forced to share a single track between the Scaleybark and Archdale stations, allowing standard 15-minute peak travel intervals to resume.
Transit officials stated that schedule updates will be reflected Tuesday on both the CATS website and the CATS-Pass mobile application.
The service restoration also impacts local bus travel. Bus routes 2, 12, and 30 have returned to their standard pathways, and the Scaleybark Station bus bay has officially reopened to service those specific lines.
The construction targeted long-term safety and reliability along one of the transit corridor’s busiest stretches. Workers installed trench drains along the outer perimeter of both the northbound and southbound tracks to prevent water from pooling beneath the grade crossing at South Boulevard.
Transit officials thanked passengers for their patience during the temporary service disruptions.
“We appreciate our community’s understanding as we completed these important improvements while maintaining service,” Brent Cagle, interim CEO of CATS, said in a statement. “And [we] applaud the teams in completing this work ahead of schedule.”
