PINEVILLE, N.C. – The Pineville branch of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library reopened to the public Monday, resuming regular hours of operation nearly three months after a vehicle crashed into the building.
The facility, which also houses the Pineville Town Hall, had been closed since the April 29 accident. Structural repairs were completed last week, allowing library personnel to reenter the building and prepare for the reopening.
While officials declared the building structurally safe, construction crews remain on-site. Several sections of the facility stay closed to the public, including the library’s community room, vending area, a study room, and a small section of one reading space.
Library officials stated that the ongoing construction will not affect public access to the main book collection, computers, or other primary resources. Patrons can once again select the Pineville branch as a pickup location for on-hold materials, though public programming will remain limited for the time being.
“We are very excited to welcome customers back into the library and resume offering the services and resources that are so important to our community,” Pineville branch Manager Cameron Smith said. “There will certainly be a period of adjustment as repairs are completed, but we appreciate the community’s patience.”
Visitors should expect some noise and visible activity near the blocked-off construction zones as repairs continue toward full capacity.
