STATESVILLE, N.C. – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred on I-40. The accident occurred during the early morning hour on Friday, August 7th when a 2021 Ram 3500 collided with a 2002 Ram 1500 that was disabled in the emergency lane.
The driver of the 2002 Ram, Ernest Ames IV, was ejected while in the rear cab of his truck after the accident. Ames IV, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene.
28-year-old Keven Quintana was determined to be speeding while under the influence of alcohol.
Quintana was arrested on-scene and charged with felony death by motor vehicle along with other charges. He was booked into the Iredell County Dentention Center under a $750,000 secured bond.
