Cabarrus Co. judge denies bond for Sun Drop murders suspect
CONCORD, N.C. – Bond has been denied for the man accused in a notorious 18-year-old cold case murder in Concord. Johnny Talbert faced a judge Monday during a deposition hearing in a Cabarrus County courtroom.
He faces two counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery for the 2006 killings of Donna Barnhardt and Darrell Noles. The victims were shot and killed at the Sun Drop Bottling Plant during an apparent robbery.
Talbert was arrested in Washington state in May after a recent DNA breakthrough revived the nearly decade-and-a-half-old investigation.
