Postpartum psychosis affects about 1 to 2 out of every 1,000 women after childbirth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Lindsay Clancy is accused of murdering her three young children in January 20-23 while allegedly experiencing postpartum psychosis.

Prosecutors argue Lindsay Clancy deliberately strangled her three children. Her defense argues Clancy was not criminally responsible for their deaths due to severe postpartum psychosis and overmedication. This case has so many layers, as does perinatal mental health.

Perinatal mental health therapist, Afton Jones spoke with Kaitlin Wright on Rising about what postpartum psychosis is, the warning signs and the treatments available.
