Man sentenced to nine years in prison for shooting that put CMS bus in the crosshairs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for his involvement in a shoot out that led to bullets striking a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Paris Lewis-Bynum had a gun illegally and was using it in drug trafficking activities.

The shoot out in December 2024 happened on East W.T. Harris Boulevard.

Police say the school bus got caught in the crossfire. 30 students were on board. Two of them had to be treated after being hurt from shattered glass.
