Heat Advisory in effect, closing in on record highs

Rain chances increase late week

Heat Advisory in effect from noon until 8 pm across parts of the Piedmont. Heat indices between 104-108 degrees possible.

Record High Today: The record high for 8/17 is 97 set in 2016. We will likely break that today with a forecast high of 99.

Severe Threat: There is a level 2/5 severe threat for today. The rain chance is not high at all – most of us will stay dry, but isolated storms that do pop up, have a good chance at becoming strong to severe. Damaging wind gusts is the main concern.

Forecast:
Monday: Likely breaking record high previously set in 2016. High near 99. Isolated severe storms possible. Incredibly hot and humid.

Tuesday: Not *as* hot, but still very hot and humid. Highs in the mid 90s.

Wednesday: Sunny, hot and humid. Highs in the mid 90s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot. Back in the upper 90s.

Friday: Partly sunny. Scattered showers and storms. Highs in the low 90s.

Have a great week!
