Judge denies bond for accused Dilworth sidewalk attacker
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The man accused of punching a woman and knocking her to the ground in Dilworth will remain in jail without bond. Diquan Hunt made his first court appearance on Monday on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the random attack on July 30th.
Prosecutors say Hunt recorded the attack and posted the video online, which helped investigators identify him. He was arrested August 6th after the video went viral and spent more than a week in a medical facility before being booked into the Mecklenburg County jail.
Prosecutors say the victim suffered a concussion and a cut to her head and will undergo further medical evaluation.
If Hunt is eventually granted bond, he would be required to wear an electronic monitor. He’s due back in court on September 2nd.
