Man shot by Monroe police officer over the weekend dies from his injuries
MONROE, N.C. – A man shot by a police officer in Monroe over the weekend has died from his injuries. Investigators say 33-year-old Francisco Montes-Hernandez pointed a gun at an officer and refused to drop it. It happened around 10:00 Sunday night after a woman called police to say Montes-Hernandez, who she knew, was attempting to break into her home on Alda Drive.
The officer’s name has not been released. They remain on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
The SBI is handling the investigation.
