Iredell Co. Sheriff announces arrest in Greg Biffle home break-in investigation
IREDELL CO., N.C. – Authorities in Iredell County have announced a significant break in the burglary of the Mooresville estate of the late NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.
44-year-old Terrell Williams of Stone Mountain, Georgia, is now facing a long list of serious felony charges in connection with the crime.
The break-in happened on January 8th, just weeks after a plane crash killed Biffle and his family. Detectives say Williams entered the empty residence, and navigated the house using a wireless radio-frequency detector to blind the surveillance cameras.
The case picked up in late July when Georgia police arrested Williams for a separate burglary involving a high-profile homicide case. Georgia detectives say Williams had some of Biffle’s stolen property
Iredell Co. Sheriff Darren Campbell says, “So this person’s method of the way he operated, and what we are seeing, is basically he used headlines, social media, posts, different things, to find out when people were or were not at home. And he executed his plan in that capacity.”
Williams is currently being held without bond in Cobb County, Georgia. Investigators are pushing for his extradition to North Carolina to face multiple felony charges.
