Isolated severe storm and flood threat Friday

Friday rain: 


Timing: 2 pm – 12 am

Flood risk: Flooding is possible through Friday night as torrential training storms move through. Some locations may see 2-3”+ which could lead to localized flooding.

Flood Watch: There is a Flood Watch in effect for Stanly County from 11 am – Saturday AM. We may see these watches extend across more counties.

Severe threat: A level 1 out of 5 (marginal risk) in place for areas north of I-85. A level 2 of 5 (slight risk) for those south of I-85.

Damaging wind gusts and hail will be our primary severe threat through Friday night.

Forecast:
Friday: Lingering AM rain. Patchy fog. Very humid. Severe storm threat and isolated flood risk. Highs near 90. Feeling close to 100.

Saturday: Partly sunny. Muggy. Highs in the upper 80s, near 90. Scattered showers and storms in the afternoon.

Sunday: Humidity will be lower. Winds shifting to the north. Highs in the upper 80s, near 90 with not much of a heat index. Staying dry.

Monday: Sunny and nice! Highs in the upper 80s.
