96% of the Moon will enter Earth's dark shadow, creating a deep partial eclipse
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Eyes to the sky! There will be a partial lunar eclipse Thursday night!
The night of Thursday, August 27 into the early hours of Friday, August 28, 96% of the Moon will enter Earth’s dark shadow, creating a deep partial eclipse.
The penumbral eclipse will begin around 9:30 pm ET Thursday and will end at 1:51 am Friday.
The greatest eclipse will occur Friday 12:12 am ET where 96.3% of the Moon’s disk is within Earth’s umbra. According to NASA, “This part of the eclipse is visible in the Americas (except Alaska and northwestern Canada), western Europe and western Africa.”
We will have some clouds around in the Carolinas, but as of now, there will be some breaks too.
