Queen City Honor Flight veteran shares why the experience is more than just a trip

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A local non profit is spreading the word about their work to help local veterans take the flight of a lifetime. Queen City Honor Flight flies veterans up to Washington, DC free of charge to see the monuments and memorials built in their honor. It’s a tribute to the men and women who put their lives on the line for America.

On Tuesday morning, a Queen City Honor Flight veteran and Purple Heart recipient joined WCCB Charlotte’s Taylor Miller and Adam Wurtzel on Rising to share more. Mike Stubbs says, “So many veterans would never get to go to dc to see these monuments and their honor. And one of the amazing things on the flights, the camaraderie.” He continues, “What’s so amazing is some of them talk about things that they did in the service they have never talked about before. Because they’re with people that they know understand what they went through.

Queen City Honor Flight makes these trips happen through corporate and individual donations and sponsorships.
