CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) – American Airlines announced today new service from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to Barcelona (BCN) and expanded service to Paris (CDG) for summer 2027. The airline continues to advance Charlotte’s position on a global scale with its largest trans-Atlantic schedule from CLT to date and service to nine European cities next summer.
American’s growth in Charlotte strengthens global connectivity, spurring economic growth, foreign direct investment and tourism across the region. Barcelona is one of eight new destinations American revealed today for next summer.

Charlotte travelers, and those who connect through CLT, will have access to 11 daily flights to nine destinations in Europe next summer, including Barcelona (BCN); Dublin (DUB), Frankfurt (FRA), London (LHR), Madrid (MAD), Munich (MUC), Paris (CDG), Rome (FCO) and Athens (ATH), which launched in summer 2025.
Barcelona (BCN) is one of the most sought-after destinations in Spain. With more service to BCN than any other U.S. airline, American offers the most convenient nationwide access for travelers looking to visit the city known for beautiful architecture and its championship-winning soccer club. Additionally, seasonal service to CDG will begin in March, months earlier than this summer, to meet growing demand for customers eager to visit the City of Love.
The new flight from CLT to BCN is part of a larger menu of new routes and destinations for 2027 revealed by American today — further expanding the airline’s global network from Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK) and Philadelphia (PHL). American will also add an additional frequency from JFK to London (LHR), where the airline continues to enhance the customer experience in partnership with British Airways.

This new development is set to begin on May 27, 2027.
