Charlotte Crown celebrates inaugural Upshot League Championship win

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A big celebration Monday night for the Charlotte Crown! The women’s basketball team won the inaugural Upshot League Championship Saturday night in a game you saw right here on WCCB Charlotte.

The team pulled off a fourth-quarter rally to beat the Jacksonville waves 81 to 76. Players and coaches celebrated the win Monday night with fans at Bojangles’ Coliseum in east Charlotte.

Charlotte Crown head coach Trisha Stafford-Odom says, “Bringing a championship here only adds to how many phone calls I’m going to get in this offseason. How many DM’s coaches are calling me. How many players themselves are going to call because they want to be a part of this.”

In the championship game, the Crown outscored Jacksonville 32-19 in the final frame, snagging the lead in the final minutes and refusing to let it go.
