ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. – China Grove Police responded to a call of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. The incident occurred on interstate 85 in China Grove.
Officers responded to the scene and located a deceased male at the scene. Rowan County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation based on the circumstances of death.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the collision occurred after a physical altercation between the victim and another individual, who were traveling together and had stopped on the shoulder after running out of gas. The victim was struck by a passing vehicle which resulted in their death.
No determination regarding criminal charges has been announced at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
