Silfab hires a Director of Health and Safety to oversee Fort Mill plant

FORT MILL, S.C. – Solar panel manufacturer Silfab has hired a corporate Director of Health and Safety to oversee its plants in Fort Mill and Washington State.

The company says Jamie Watts has more than 30 years experience in safety, operational excellence and risk management. He holds a degree in chemical engineering from NC State and is a licensed engineer.

The company has faced ongoing criticism from neighbors in Fort Mill saying the plant is too close to schools and homes. There were also two chemical spills at the plant earlier this year.
