Stephanie Sneed announces resignation as CMS Board of Education Chair hours before expected vote to remove her

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The CMS Board of Education’s stunning decision Tuesday night to fire Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill came just hours after Stephanie Sneed announced her resignation as School Board Chair.

She is under fire after Hill sent the Board a more than 200 page report last week including timelines and records, painting a picture of financial misconduct surrounding Sneed and previous CMS Executive in Residence Raki McGregor.

The Mecklenburg County District Attorney has since requested the SBI investigate the district. Board members voted District Three representative Dee Rankin to replace Sneed as Chair. She will remain on the Board as District Four representative.
