First responder festival raises funds for mental health resources
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local event is bringing the community together to support the mental health and wellness of first responders.
James Hayes and Michelle Hummel joined WCCB Rising to discuss the upcoming Warrior Bootcamp and Pints, Pups & Heroes Festival.
Money raised will help connect local first responders with trauma-trained therapists, provide specialized training for mental health professionals and support efforts to reduce the stigma around seeking help. The organization also partners the K9 Responder Foundation to help provide therapy and service dogs to first responders.
The free event begins with Warrior Bootcamp from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the Pints, Pups & Heroes Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
