Kendra Scott hosts event at SouthPark Mall this weekend to raise funds for Reed Parlier Memorial Foundation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A local jewelry store is hosting a special event this weekend to raise funds for the Ellis Reed Parlier Memorial Foundation. On Saturday, Kendra Scott at SouthPark Mall will donate 20% of all proceeds to the foundation.

19-year-old Parlier died in 2019, in a mass shooting on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Parlier and fellow student Riley Howell were killed. Four other people were hurt.

Parlier, from Midland, was a computer science major who loved video games, and wanted to become a video game developer. Friends, family and professors say he was independent, motivated, witty and kind.

The Reed Parlier Memorial Foundation awards scholarships to STEM students at UNC Charlotte. Since the foundation’s inception, more than 15 students have received scholarships, including two who received full rides. The foundation has raised more than $1 million since 2019.
