CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee has been arrested after showing signs of impairment while operating a vehicle.
Stephen Esposito, 46, was stopped during a safety checkpoint on Idlewild Road near Interstate 485. According to the arrest record, Esposito smelled strongly of alcohol and had red glassy eyes when stopped. Esposito admitted to consuming alcohol and performed poorly on the standardized field sobriety test.
The result of the breath test read .11. Esposito was charged with driving while impaired and has been given a $2,500 unsecured bond. He held the role of Chief of Strategic Communication and Engagement at CMS.

“Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is aware of an arrest involving a district employee. The incident is unrelated to district operations or school activities. No further information can be shared at this time, in accordance with state statutes regarding the confidentiality of personnel information.”
