CATS security guard recovering after being attacked with a rock

Morgan Fogarty,

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A security guard is recovering after being assaulted at a south Charlotte transit platform. The attack happened Tuesday at the CATS Arrowood Station on South Boulevard.

According to arrest warrants, Tommy Martin III used a rock to assault the female guard, kicked her while she was on the ground, and stole her cell phone.

Transit officials say the guard suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Martin faces multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. CATS says violence against its staff or passengers will not be tolerated.
