NC health officials confirm first flu-related death of the season

RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina health officials are urging people to protect themselves after confirming the first flu death of the season.

The NC Department of Health and Human Services announced Thursday that an adult in the central part of the state died from flu complications during the first week of October.

State leaders are reminding everyone to get their annual vaccines, noting that fall is the optimal time to build immunity.
