Peak season is upon us across the North Carolina mountains

Peak fall foliage happening across the North Carolina mountains over the next couple of weekend.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – From the mountains to the piedmont, North Carolina is starting to show off its fall colors.

Meteorologist Kaitlin Wright spoke with Dr. Howard Neufeld also know as “Fall Color Guy” about when to expect the best color this season. Dr. Neufeld is a retired plant ecophysiologist and biology professor at Appalachian State University.

Dr. Neufeld teamed up with Ray’s weather to create an interactive map of current fall foliage. Rather than taking averages, it takes what has actually occurred that season to bring you the estimated color. The interactive map can be found at fallcolorguy.org
