YORK COUNTY, S.C. (News Release) – The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services informed York County Utilities of the need to issue a boil water advisory for unincorporated areas of York County near Tega Cay due to elevated levels of E.coli and total coliform in the water supply.
Only utility customers within the below neighborhoods are impacted:
- Hawks Creek
- Stockbridge Drive
- Coralstone Drive
- Waterstone
- Palmetto West
All impacted customers are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking as a precaution. Customers should use bottled water or boiled water that has cooled for drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food and baby formula, making ice, giving to pets.
The advisory is in effect until the SC Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) is confident there is no longer a public health concern.
The County has prioritized a re-test of the water supply and anticipates an update from SCDES within 48 hours. Once the water has been tested and determined safe to consume, York County will send an additional alert informing residents immediately.
