Death penalty hearing for accused light rail killer pushed until next year
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A death penalty hearing for the man accused of stabbing a woman to death on the Charlotte light rail has been delayed until next year.
Decarlos Brown, Jr. was scheduled to appear at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse on Tuesday. But, both the defense counsel and the state agree the hearing can’t move forward for now while Brown is in federal custody where he remains incompetent to stand trial.
A new hearing was scheduled for May.
