NCDOT crews hold equipment dry run to make sure they’re ready when wintry weather hits

CATAWBA CO., N.C. – We’re not expecting any wintry weather anytime soon, but crews in the foothills are getting ready for when it does come. NCDOT held an equipment dry run Thursday at the slag yard in Catawba County to make sure all their trucks are ready to go.

Catawba Co. Maintenance Engineer Billy Carpenter says, “We are today testing our equipment, putting our brine tanks on, putting our spreaders on, our plows on making sure everything connects and hooks up and working properly.”

NCDOT crews in Catawba County have 20 plow trucks and 1,800 tons of salt on hand.
