AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) β€” Tiger Woods makes his return to competition today when he tees off late in the afternoon at the Masters. The four-time champ has been off since early February trying to resurrect his game. First-round action is underway under sunny skies.

MIAMI (AP) β€” Struggling Miami tries to stay close in the Eastern Conference postseason race when the Heat host playoff-bound Chicago. Miami has lost seven of its last 10 to fall a game out of the eighth and final playoff spot.

MONTREAL (AP) β€” The Detroit Red Wings can wrap up their 24th consecutive NHL postseason berth when they skate at Montreal tonight. The Red Wings have the longest active playoff run in the four major U.S. pro leagues. Detroit goes into the game having won just six times in the last 18 games.

DETROIT (AP) β€” The Minnesota Twins try to end their scoreless start to the season when they wrap up a series in Detroit this afternoon. The Tigers have posted 18 straight scoreless innings against new manager Paul Molitor’s club in consecutive shutouts.

WASHINGTON (AP) β€” The Mets’ Matt Harvey makes returns to the mound for the first time since August 2013 when he starts at Washington this afternoon. The right-hander is coming back from Tommy John surgery. He appeared in top form during spring training with a 1.19 ERA. He struck out 21 and walked one in 22 innings.
