CHARLOTTE, NC — It doesn’t matter if you’re a little leaguer or in the majors. Β There is something extra special about Opening Day. Β Especially when Opening Day draws more than 10,000 fans to a sold-out ballpark.

And with the over 680,000 fans that came through the gates of BB&T Ballpark last year, the Knights and City of Charlotte are ready to play ball again in Uptown. Β The Knight’s second season is officially underway, and fans are ready for year two.

“It’s just a new beginning, it’s Spring, it’s the start of a new season, new hopes,” said one fan.

“Extremely excited. Β Love baseball, it’s like the perfect beginning of Spring. Β I love everything about it,” said another fan.

“Having something leisurely to do that isn’t very expensive, and, you know, it’s a lot of fun,” said Charlotte resident Jasmine Tamanaha.

Β Knights COO Dan Rajkowski says the fans aren’t the only ones enjoying the Knights returning to Uptown. Β The City of Charlotte is benefiting tremendously, with more money ready to exchange hands at BB&T Ballpark.

“It’s put 700,000 people in the center city of Charlotte,” said Rajkowski. Β “They did not come here last year. Β And whether they’re coming from down the road, or from South Carolina, whatever. Β We’re bringing people into the center city.”
