We know the rules state that ex-Mayor Cannon’s replacement has to be a Democrat. But as for who it will actually be, the list of potentials includes, of course, several Democrats currently on the council, and others who aren’t, but were, like Dan Clodfelter and Jennifer Roberts.
But the council could go outside the box. Voters are allowed to put anybody in office they want, and some observers might figure guilt by association for any council member Cannon connected with.
So what do you think? Should the next mayor be a current city council member?
