CHARLOTTE, NC – Officer Jon Dunham is in stable condition at CMC.
Police say he was shot in the shoulder after a confrontation around 6:00am Sunday morning at the Emerald Bay Apartments on Montcrest Drive near the intersection of South Boulevard and Tyvola Road.
Investigators say Officer Dunham, who was off-duty, was in the apartment with his son when someone broke in and began taking things. They say Dunham did not know the suspect.
Police arrested two teens that were in connection with the shootings.
Police charged Kevin Watson McClary, 19, with two counts of armed robbery, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Mauricio Gabriel Salazar-Peiti, 17, was charged with two counts of accessory armed robbery, accessory attempted murder, accessory assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, accessory first degree burglary and felony possession of stolen goods.
