
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The man who police say helped his wife fake her drowning to avoid jail time has turned himself in. Β North Myrtle Beach officials tell WCCB that Paul D. Arrington surrendered at the Department of Public Safety building around 4:00pm Thursday. Β It’s not clear yet whether Arrington will receive a bond hearing today or tomorrow.Β
Arrington and his wife, Amy, are accused of concocting a made-up story about her disappearance over the weekend. Β Paul initially told investigators that Amy told him she was going into the ocean for a dip and wasn’t seen again.Β

Amy was due to stand trial as a habitual felon in Charlotte this past Monday on a variety of charges including identity theft and forgery. Β She turned herself into Mecklenburg County officials Thursday morning. Β

She has several aliases, including Robinson, Sutton and Goeble.Β

Both Amy and Paul, both of Gaston County, now faces charges related to the fake disappearance story, too. Β
