HOUSTON, T.X. — An HOA showdown in Houston after some members said they want to ban all bicycles. The group says kids speeding on bikes threaten seniors, pets and themselves. A flier even threatened the banning altogether of any kind of wheeled vehicle or toy. The 300-townhome subdivision is trying to reach a compromise. Parents say a ban would punish their kids.
“They are valid concerns, you know,” said Houston resident Cynthia Boase. “But I have two children and I certainly don’t want them not to be able to ride their bike at a really nice park in our community.”
Residents say the make-up of the neighborhood has changed from mostly seniors to young professionals and families.
