BELMONT, NC – A fallen Vietnam Veteran is finally laid to rest Saturday in Belmont, after being missing in action for almost 45 years. Hundreds lined the streets to honor Sergeant Bunyan Price Jr.
Sgt. Bunyan Price Jr. was in an Army helicopter that was shot down in 1970 in Cambodia near the Vietman border.
Only recently his remains were discovered about a mile from the crash site. Those remains arrived at the airport Thursday.
“I think it’s important that I support this guy cause I was in the military myself, and I would like to think that had I been in his situation, that people would have honored me like that,” said Belmont resident Dewey Byers.
“It’s way beyond my expectations. Awesome that we get behind him and do this.”
