A volunteer deputy for the Tulsa, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Office has turned himself in to face a charge of second degree manslaughter.  73-year-old Robert Bates says he meant to grab a Taser, rather than the gun he used to kill suspect Eric Harris.

Video of Bates shooting Harris in the back was released by the Sheriff’s Office this week.  Meanwhile, Harris’ brother is calling for an independent investigation.

A large part of the debate has to do with the age of 73-year-old Bates, and what role that might have played when he grabbed his gun instead of his Taser.  So do you think officers should be forced to retire after a certain age?
