NEW ORLEANS (AP) β€” New Orleans has a tough task on its hands when it hosts San Antonio tonight in an effort to break a tie with Oklahoma City for the final playoff spot in the NBA Western Conference as the season winds down. The Spurs are not only riding an 11-game winning streak but could also finish the season with the No. 2 seed in the postseason. They currently trail the Clippers by a game and a half.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) β€” Oklahoma City can lock up the final playoff spot in the NBA Western Conference tonight with a little bit of help. A Thunder win at Minnesota coupled with a New Orleans loss at home against San Antonio gives the Thunder the eighth seed.

UNDATED (AP) β€” The final spot in the NBA Eastern Conference playoff picture can be determined tonight. Indiana can lock it up with a home win over Memphis. Should the Pacers lose, that would open the door for the Nets to clinch with a win at home against Orlando.

MONTREAL (AP) β€” The Canadiens host Ottawa in a tough assignment to help open up the NHL playoffs tonight. The Senators earned a playoff spot by winning 23 of their last 31 games with goalie Andrew Hammond going 20-1-2. Montreal posted a league-best 26-9-6 at home, but lost three of four to the Senators in the regular season.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) β€” Kansas City remains the major league’s only unbeaten team with a 7-0 record heading into tonight’s game at Minnesota. Edinson Volquez takes the mound against the Twins. The best start in Royals history was 9-0 in 2003.
