NEW YORK (AP) β Live from New York … it’s the 14th annual Tribeca Film Festival.
The festival kicked off Wednesday night at New York’s Beacon Theatre with the premiere of the “Saturday Night Live” documentary “Live From New York!”
Directed by Bao Nguyen, the film looks back at the history of “SNL” and was made with the sanction of “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels.
The rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges was to follow the premiere with a performance.
“Live From New York!” adds to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live,” and it also starts a theme at this year’s Tribeca.
A number of films at the festival this year document comedy from behind-the-scenes, including films on the National Lampoon and New Yorker cartoons. A Monty Python reunion is also planned.
