CHARLOTTE, NC — UPDATE: Β Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man shot in the head at a North Charlotte car wash died this morning from his injuries. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Jose Cuestas.
Detectives believe that the victim and suspect know one another and say that this was not a random act of violence.

“I heard three shots,” said Fashon Ramsey. “Soon as I came down the block, the man was laying on the ground.”
A chaotic scene at the Primetime Car Wash on Sunset Road in North Charlotte.
Gunshots rang out just before one o’clock this afternoon. Witnesses say a man was shot in the head.
“And his friends was around him trying to help him,” said Fashon.
“The officers arrived and found a male shot over here near one of the bays,” said CMPD Captain Rod Golding. “The individual was transported with life threatening injuries.”
The victim was still alive when MEDIC transported him to Carolinas Medical Center. CMPD says the shooter and the victim may know each other.
“Based on what we can tell, this is not a random act,” said Golding
Fashon Ramsey was waiting for the bus near the shooting scene, on his way to take care of some holiday shopping. Now he’s a witness to a violent crime.
“It is shocking when after Thanksgiving you’re just going to the mall, Black Friday, you trying to go buy something,” said Ramsey. “You see a man laying on the ground.”
Investigators gathered evidence, and talked with several people on the scene.
“We do have some witnesses that are cooperating, and have given us some information of a vehicle that was involved and a suspect description,” said Capt. Golding. Β
CMPD says they have a good idea who the suspect is, but are not releasing details on the shooting at this time.
The identity of the victim is not being released.Β
