GASTONIA, NC — Graphic testimony Friday in the trial of a former Gaston County wrestling coach charged with sex crimes involving students.

Gary “Scott” Goins faces 22 charges involving three wrestlers at East Gaston High School.  Most of the alleged abuse happened on field trips.  Friday, one accuser said Goins forced him to perform oral sex at his home while his parents were at work.

“They trusted him with their son’s life, I mean, they they trusted him to take me all over the country to become a better wrestler.  That’s what all this was,” said one alleged victim.  “I was scared.  I mean, I didn’t know if they would believe me.  I didn’t know if this was real.  I mean, I was afraid.”

Prosecutors say Goins used mind training on wrestlers and forced them to have sex with him.  The defense claims Goins was a tough coach, but didn’t sexually abuse anyone.
