GASTONIA, NC —Β Graphic testimony Friday in the trial of a former Gaston County wrestling coach charged with sex crimes involving students.

Gary “Scott” Goins faces 22 charges involving three wrestlers at East Gaston High School. Β Most of the alleged abuse happened on field trips. Β Friday, one accuser said Goins forced him to perform oral sex at his home while his parents were at work.

“They trusted him with their son’s life, I mean, they they trusted him to take me all over the country to become a better wrestler. Β That’s what all this was,” said one alleged victim. Β “I was scared. Β I mean, I didn’t know if they would believe me. Β I didn’t know if this was real. Β I mean, I was afraid.”

Prosecutors say Goins used mind training on wrestlers and forced them to have sex with him. Β The defense claims Goins was a tough coach, but didn’t sexually abuse anyone.
