STATESVILLE, N.C.– Officials with the Statesville Police Department are asking for help in locating Markel Antonio Sherrill, 23.
Police say that on Saturday night, a victim of a shooting arrived at Iredell Memorial Hospital at 11:30. The victim, who was transported to the hospital by a friend, was treated for multiple gunshot wounds and was later transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
According to police, they received information that the shooting occurred at 1729 Lakeview Drive. When officers responded to the scene, evidence was found and after multiple interviews, a suspect was developed.
It was determined that the suspect was Markel Antonio Sherrill of Statesville. N.C.Warrants were obtained on Sherrill for Assault with a Deadly Weapon inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
